WFOT Honorary Fellow Award

profnathan-PUScOTOn the basic of merit of an OT who has achieved international distinctions and delivered long and distinguished contribution & service to OT profession, OT MALAYSIA has put nomination for the World Federation of Occupational Therapists’ Honorary Fellow award.(Honorary Fellow is the WFOT highest award). Prof Nathan,has been awarded with WFOT Honorary Fellow Award in recent 2016 WFOT Council Meeting.  Prof Nathan becomes the first OT to receive this award in South East Asia.

OT MALAYSIA is so proud of Prof Nathan achievement.

Prof. Nathan has nearly 40 years of experience in Occupational Therapy. He started working as an occupational therapist in the 1970s and has worked in clinical settings and in United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia.

He has also worked in academic institutions such as Universiti Putra Malaysia (Medical School). He was the first Occupational Therapist we know of in the region who taught medical students as a full-time job. Prof. Nathan was the elected Vice President of World Federation of Occupational Therapists from 1994 to 1998. Prof. Nathan’s commitment to education is evident through his accomplishments.

Notably, Prof Nathan was instrumental in starting up and actively supported the Asia Pacific Occupational Therapy Conference, a well-attended and well-received conference in Asia Pacific region. He was chairing the Asia Pacific Occupational Therapy Regional Group till 2015. Prof. Nathan was also one of the pioneers who advocated for and initiated the Singapore-Malaysia Occupational Therapy Symposium. In June 2015, the Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists (SAOT) and the Malaysian Occupational Therapy Association (OT MALAYSIA) met in Melaka for the bi-annual Symposium, for knowledge sharing and networking. Prof Nathan is a strategic leader who has the ability to connect with people, and he is bold in putting his plans into action. He provided pioneering leadership to grow future leaders in the region.

Prof Nathan is now the Dean for Perdana University School of Occupational Therapy.
